EXPERIENCED. PROFESSIONAL. SUPPORTIVE.
My mission in life has always been to help people be the best version of themselves and make a positive contribution to the planet, which is why I ended up going to medical school. But life had other plans for me...
When chronic stress, anxiety and burnout caused me to leave medicine, I was at a crossroads. I was living in New York City, stress capital of the world, and my diet consisted of an assortment of take-out foods, as hardly anyone has a working kitchen in Manhattan. I knew I needed to make some serious changes if I wanted to lead a fulfilling, conscious life.
At the time, I was an executive at a pharmaceutical company with a highly successful career, but one that didn't align with my heart, soul and true passion. I knew I wanted to raise a family and find a career that resonated with me - one that matched the outside AND the inside of my authentic, creative, health foodie self.
After so many years in the world of medicine, I finally realized I wanted to focus on HEALTH, not disease; WELLNESS, not illness. I wanted to be part of the future of preventative medicine that acknowledges that lifestyle and environment play huge roles in chronic health epidemics like diabetes, obesity and heart disease. We are also seeing a rise in autoimmune disease that raises concerns about what we put in and on our bodies and how we manage stress. And Climate Anxiety is real. I wanted to empower people to make healthier choices for themselves, and the planet.
My own personal health crisis came after my daughter was born. Having a baby was one of the most magical experiences of my life, but it also seriously affected my health. I struggled with autoimmune disease, digestive issues, anxiety and chronic fatigue. I wondered if this was just my "new normal" or if I would ever feel like myself again? All I knew was that I couldn't continue feeling this sick, tired, and depleted. I am so fortunate to have been able to find help, get the right diagnoses, and make myself a priority. And now I want to share that knowledge with you.
I thrive on finding new ways to think about health and wellness, about what we put into our bodies, and how changing our beliefs about food and stress can have a lasting impact on how we feel each and every day. There are so many mixed messages out there these days about what we should and shouldn't eat - paleo, keto, vegan, plant-based, gluten-free, high carb, low carb, intermittent fasting, and on and on. It can be overwhelming and cause "analysis paralysis." I encourage folks to ditch the diet and find a unique, healthy, balanced approach to eating that works for you.
The environment and our impact on it is on everyone's minds these days, and I want to be part of the solution. So I research and encourage conscious, clean living choices that are good for our bodies and good for the planet! I help you sort through the noise about what is safe, what isn't, what swaps you should be making in your daily routine, and how to navigate the grocery aisle without freaking out.
What makes me different from other Health Coaches? I studied at Harvard and Columbia and come from the world of medicine, which gives me an in-depth understanding of illness and disease. But I also truly believe in holistic health and wellness, and am well-versed in the practices of yoga and meditation. I trained at the world-renowned Institute For Integrative Nutrition, where we studied over 100 dietary theories and worked with mentors like Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra, and Dr. Walter Willett, head of Nutrition at Harvard Medical School. I have also experienced coaching myself and seen the transformative effects it can have, even in a short period of time.
In my free time, I am a semi-professional singer. I've performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and know the power music has to enhance our lives, and how hard work and dedication can pay off. As food is one of the greatest pleasures in life, you can also find me shopping at one of our fabulous farmer's markets here in Portland, OR, back in my kitchen living my cooking dream, trying and sharing new healthy plant-based recipes, doing Vinyasa yoga and barre3, and spending time with my powerhouse 6-year-old daughter and amazing husband, Dr. Nicholas Fogelson, MD. I've also become a clean beauty advocate because I believe what you put on your face can be just as important as what you put on your plate.
I'm so excited that you are here and that you are taking this next step toward achieving your goals, ditching the diet, defining your "new normal" and reclaiming your health.
I can't wait for us to work together and embark on this journey to live a balanced, empowered, fearless life...
